Bhumi Pednekar is starting a new noble endeavor to cool animals in summer! She worries about how birds and animals are struggling to get water and suffer from heatstroke, dehydration, and fever, which can damage brain cells and vital organs and cause seizures, comas, and death.
Bhumi Pednekar will lead a summer water bowl effort for Mumbai’s wildlife and birds.
Bhumi aims to establish more water bowls in Mumbai for animals through The Bhumi Foundation. These bowls will help birds and animals find water and cool down!
Bhumi says, “While we can complain about the heat, innocent animals suffer in silence. I believe we must recognize their predicament and protect local animals and birds. Proper hydration reduces the risk of strokes and other health disorders. The modest provision promotes their well-being in difficult environments.”
She wants to encourage everyone to put water bowls in their communities. Bhumi says, “Each of us must help local birds and strays. Our societies and neighborhoods will benefit if we all add water bowls. A simple DIY container outside your balcony or society gate lets birds and animals reach them.”
Bhumi, her team, and volunteers will place water bowls in her region and organize volunteers across the city.
