Prime Video’s cancellation of My Lady Jane after one season saddened viewers. The streaming company announced the decision on Friday, August 16, claiming poor viewing despite the show’s expanding popularity and good Rotten Tomatoes score. Fans, furious at this move, have petitioned showrunners to renew the show.
Historical fiction debuted on Amazon Prime on June 27. It has since garnered praise from historical drama fans for its innovative take on Lady Jane Grey, the “Nine Days Queen.” Despite fans calling it “better than Bridgerton,” My Lady Jane was not renewed.
After Deadline announced the show’s termination, a Change.org petition was established to “SAVE ‘My Lady Jane’”. Out of 7,500 signatures, 6909 have been collected. The petition, started by Christina Burdick, states, “We are tired of heartless, corporate, capitalistic, mega streaming platforms canceling actually good shows full of wonderful writing, performances, and storylines.”
