The film grossed ₹76.5 crore in India on its first day, according to the makers. On day 2, it earned over ₹41 crore. Now that the weekend is here and Raksha Bandhan arrives on Monday, business should perk up for Stree 2 at the Indian box office.

Director Hansal Mehta joined the debate about who gets credit for Stree 2’s big opening. On X (previously Twitter), he commented, “Don’t trivialise it’s success by attributing it to one star. This vehicle showcases writing, directing, and acting talent. We admire Rajkummar as an actor, thus this is a great achievement. Amar Kaushik’s mastery of the medium and ability to turn a script into meaningful entertainment for the public make it a triumph.

The film’s team contributed to its success, he wrote, “It is a triumph for Niren Bhatt’s writing – from Taarak Mehta to Bala to Bhediya to Munjya, the man has consistently delivered. An ensemble as important as Raj and Shraddha succeeds. Indian mainstream cinema triumphs. Finally, genius triumphs.”
