Swara Bhasker said her family thinks she’shot herself in the foot’ and ‘destroyed’ her career.
Swara Bhasker says her Twitter account cost her her career, making it her most expensive. The actor, who has always spoken out, said that no one in the film industry wants to cast her because of her controversial views, even though they want a ‘actor like Swara Bhasker’. She said her family thinks she “shot herself in the foot” and “destroyed” her career.
Swara told Connect Cine, “If there was anything in the world that was most expensive for me, it was my Twitter account because it cost me my career, in a sense.” She continued, “For a lot of producers, I am untouchable in the industry, and these are not my words; these are my well-wishers, producer, director friends who have called me. People tell me the studio rejected our casting request after hearing your name.”
Swara said a casting director informed her they often get a brief for “an actress like Swara Bhasker” but wouldn’t cast her because “no, controversies happen”. I don’t know what it is, but there’s fear.”
Many people stop Swara in the streets or talk to her at airports, giving her strength. Many, including her well-wishers, believe she shot herself in the foot. “Many people say, ‘You did the wrong thing, you destroyed your career, why did you do this? You and your team were foolish. Your loved ones are worried. Your well-wishers feel bad seeing you. Like my brother, he is my biggest fan and is most outraged that an actor of your caliber shot herself in the foot, she remarked.
