Govind Namdev recalls Shah Rukh Khan finishing the filming, having dinner with the cast, and then excuse himself for the next day’s late-night labor.
Before meeting Shah Rukh Khan, veteran actor Govind Namdev had heard about “workaholics,” but had never seen one. The actor remembers working with SRK on Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani in 2000. Govinda Namdev told Bollywood Bubble that Shah Rukh was producing the picture, thus he was acting above and beyond. Shah Rukh, his actor pal Juhi Chawla, and director Aziz Mirza established Dreamz Unlimited, which supported Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.
You know, I’ve heard a lot about workaholics. Govind Namdev stated he noticed them for the first time when he worked with Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh would conclude the filming, eat dinner with the group, and then excuse himself for the next day’s late-night job, according to the seasoned actor.
We worked all day, then he ate with the crew and worked until 2 AM because he was the producer. The next day, he had to fly to Chennai early to attend an event, then return to shoot! His sleep was limited to three and a half to four hours. Woh, dhuni. He will keep working and thinking about what to do while smoking like a chimney. The 69-year-old actor stated some celebrities have tantrums, but not him.
Govind Namdev was also asked about working with Salman Khan on Boney Kapoor-backed action film Wanted. In on-set encounters, Salman was opposite Shah Rukh, the actor remarked.
Sirf kaam se kaam, he rarely interacts. Nothing personal was said. Just sometimes, how unke papa kaise hote the, kuch bhi tedha kiya toh padti thi humko (Salman would say that if the kids were disobedient, Salim would beat them). End of story. He’s the reverse of Shah Rukh Khan in social situations, he said.
Govind Namdev played Vallabhbhai Patel in Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur.
