South Korean TV channels tvN and TVING were hacked early on July 20, compromising their YouTube catalogs.
Two megahit K-dramas aired on tvN in March and April 2024. Queen of Tears (starring Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Ji Won) and Lovely Runner (Byeon Woo Seok, Kim Hye Yoon) are still generating buzz on OTT platforms months after their airdates, and their status as Korean releases of the year is unlikely to fade.
On July 20, a hack knocked down broadcast network tvN Drama and its streaming platform, TVING’s official YouTube pages, after both shows became global news.
Both channels were rebranded to ‘Ripple’, causing video clips of all Korean shows, including the record-breaking Queen of Tears and Lovely Runner, to be affected. Hackers replaced the network’s red logo with a blue fidget spinner while the series’ official content disappeared.
TVING and tvN Drama then warned their fans.
After the external disruption, tvN advised viewers not to click on questionable links or movies on their hacked YouTube platforms.
On Saturday, July 20, 2024, someone outsider hacked tvN DRAMA’s YouTube channel and altered its name.
tvN is working with YouTube to fix the channel hacking. We will try to restore the channel ASAP.
To avoid harm, please do not click on strange videos or links in posts.
