After the 2016 Uri attack, Pakistani artists were banned from Indian cinema for eight years. Fawad Khan stars in the supernatural series Barzakh.

Barzakh, a ZEE5 sitcom, stars Fawad Khan, who captured hearts with his charisma and acting in Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. After an eight-year absence from Indian films, the popular Pakistani television personality recently discussed his appearance and stardom. “I sometimes feel I wasn’t made for stardom”, Fawad stated in a new interview.

In a Mid-day interview, Fawad discussed his stardom and his latest supernatural series. I feel uneasy, he remarked. I sometimes feel unsuited. I worry that if I take my stardom seriously or notice its perks, I’ll get addicted. I avoid it because aaj hai toh kal nahi. If I fall from a peak, the pain will be excruciating. I prefer a mild thump. I adore my craft. I’ll cease taking my job seriously if I take stardom so seriously. Better to ignore it.”

Fawad thinks looks fade after charming audiences with his stunning appearance. He stated, “I have tremendous Godsent luck,” in the same interview. I’m regularly told, “Thik dikhta hai, itna kya hai (you look fine, what’s up)?” Modesty is assumed. Not so. I’m practical. I appreciate my female fans and faded looks. I appreciate their support and help in getting me here. I am equally afraid of males in their lives, so I should be cautious with female praise.

India banned Pakistani artists after the 2016 Uri terror assault. The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association decided not to engage with Pakistani artists due to “security” and “patriotism” concerns. This prevented Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Atif Aslam from working with Indian artists. The Bombay High Court branded the prohibition “a retrograde step in promoting cultural harmony, unity and peace”.

An Indian film featuring Vaani Kapor and a Sony Liv show will mark the actor’s return. Fawad remarked, “I am picking up exactly from where I left off.” These projects have yet to be publicized. He continued, “I hope I am as good at my craft as when I was last here. I want much from life. I’m entering a new world after a spell in isolation. I seek life experiences, not brilliant scripts.
